Philosophy on Raising Children

While "in this world" we have chosen to not be "of this world." By this our philosophy regarding raising children is to expose them to positive influences while sharply limiting negative influences. We have chosen to have a large family, where the children are mutually accountable. We homeschool our children thus sidestep the secularized and liberalized government school system. We reward accomplishment, we participate in family activities (camping, swimming, biking, traveling). We teach our children the Christian faith and are consistent in church attendance, ministry works, and proper behavior. We do not have a television, thus eliminating what is to us a very negative influence.

Results of This Philosophy

All eight of our children are happy, well-adjusted, above average intelligence (according to annual testing), drug-free, alcohol-free, respectful of their parents, motivated, enjoy doing things together as a family. Six children are baptized and all enjoy church activities. One is married. One is going to graduate school on a scholarship. Two are in college and pulling A-grades; one is about to start college. All love God.
