Family Services Meeting
March 24, 2003
On-site at WSR
Attending: GVT, Bob Jordan, Darren Goff (WSR Staff), Karon Carroll, Doris Muller
6:30-7:15pm
GVT polled Karon as to the expected participation at Central (church, Greg Ismael, pastor).
· Karon concerned about lack of men currently involved. Church persons want to see it up and running before committing.
· Karon asked to check with Alan and Sherri, and Paul and Kristy Carruso (sp?) for their expected involvement.
· Karon asked to put a bulletin insert at her church specific to this outreach. Sharing vision and passion.
· Bob J. to send to GVT potential bulletin announcement (see below).
Review of minutes - GVT
Organizational Structure -
· Bob J. to be the silent partner (Group Leader, authority figure with the team and WSR administration) - he will administer the newbys and cover in-prison questions and issues.
· "His Harmony" music team of 5 ladies (Richard Fricks is the soundman) will actually run the program. (they are experienced and are "second in command."). "His Harmony" will be responsible for the entire content and "order" of the service, especially for the first two services.
· GVT to provide to Bob a contact number for "His Harmony."
PFCU -
March 29, Saturday. Encouraged Doris and Karol to attend, and bring others. They have a conflict with a Leadership conference at Overlake Christian Church. GVT encouraged them to pray about involvement.
· Karol and Doris were provided the dates of PFCU to be held at the Marysville First Assembly (May 31, Saturday, 8am-1pm). Karol to check in with Bob as the date draws nearer.
Re-Thinking the Timing -
Generally agreed that an afternoon service, all things considered, will be the best way to go. 2pm-3:30pm.
Promotion -
Darren showed some color flyers showing the service times, next date for the service, children's ages. Flyer was well received by all. GVT requested that the files be emailed to him. Darren will do this.
Inmate Attendance Criteria -
Inmates with a crime against a child will not be invited to attend. Infraction-free inmate status (e.g. major infractions involving assaults or contraband over past 60 or 90 days) will maybe be considered. Darren wants a minimum standard for these special family services.
7:15-7:30pm
Tour of Meeting Room -
Darren took the meeting attendees to where the church service would be. We discussed where to set up the chairs and goodie table (for treats).
Final Notes:
GVT to investigate process to bring goodies into the service. Must be store-bought and packaged in original wrapper.

Bulletin Insert Suggestion:
Ministry Opportunity: Central Church is beginning an outreach to the Washington State Reformatory. We are pioneering inmate-family church services and are partnering with Prisoners For Christ who will guide us in the initial months of this outreach. Services are the third Sunday of the month, beginning in May, and are from 2:00-3:30pm. Central Church volunteers are needed for ministry to children, adults, music, teaching, and support. See ______ for more information.
