My Favorite Hymns
Bob Jordan
Christian songs should teach/reinforce Christian doctrine. Such songs should exalt Christ. Themes like "Christ's Blood," "Holiness," "Salvation by Grace," "The Second Coming of Christ," "Evangelism," "The Peace of God," along with songs that sing scriptures The "modern" songs often have a pre-disposition to focus on man, "my needs, my wants, my happiness." I'm not too impressed with many modern popcorn songs passing today for hymns worthy to be sung in group settings. Call me old fashioned, but then again I'm expert at Christian Doctrine, preach regularly, have my personal life in order, am prospering in whatever I put my hand to, and my kids and in submission and my wife and I love one another. We have no porn issues, no backsliding, no unforgiveness, and we're advancing the kingdom of God. So as I judge the fruit of my worship pattern I can say "It is Well With My Soul."
