Sent to the India Missions Team (all seven of us)
Hello Team -
I hope you all are well and getting ready for what will be an exciting and fruitful mission in India. Some of you have asked for the flight itinerary for which I had thought it was already given to you in case you didn't get it here you go. You will need to be at Sea-Tac airport at the Northwest Airlines counter ready to go at 10:30 AM on the 6th. We will all check in together so wait for the rest of the team if you are there early. Seats are assigned. Remember 2 luggage can be checked each weighing no more than 50 lbs, I am also attaching the on the ground itinerary for your prayer partners (note that this may still change slightly) . Note to team leaders "The President" does not have to preach every service but they will definitely want him to greet or say something at every service.
I am almost complete on the budget as due to some changes it is not yet fixed. I will have the final detail and will email you all by Monday in this regard as to individual responsibility. Just a reminder that all funds are due in to the PFC office by close of business next Friday Nov. 2nd. The final budget looks like it will be right around $3200 each so please check with Jill in our office at jill@pfcom.org as to how your funds are doing and send out additional emails or plea's to supporters if you need to.
Here are some tips for ministry in India: The Bible is considered very sacred book even by the Hindu's, please be careful to not put it on the ground or under your seat, do not throw it down on chair etc. They don't "worship" the book even in Christian circles but it is more highly respected than in American culture... Women should not wear pants to a church service it would be expected to wear long skirt is best and most women would bring a scarf to put on there head in church if you have one. Men bring a white (short sleeve ok) shirt for Sunday service. Men can wear short sleeve dress shirts most days please bring at least one tie for meeting government officials. Women should not preach to or pray for men this is a cultural issue. Men can pray for women (pastors or ministers only please check with your team leader) but should only put there hand on the head and no where else ( not shoulder or hand etc.) Men or women should not "hug" those of the opposite sex, I know we do this in our American churches but this is not accepted in India unless it was after knowing them well as in it would be ok to hug our fellow PFC workers goodbye upon leaving.
Please pray hard for the visa's to get thru and processed in time! I have many Bibles I would like to send over if someone has room for them please let me know and I will have them at the office before the final team "packing" meeting. If you have any other needs or questions please let me know!
