What does the P.E. mean?

Professional Engineer; a P.E. has a license (mine is in the State of Washington) to practice engineering in a public setting. Check out the Fundamental Principles and Fundamental Canons of a Professional Engineer. I take these seriously.

My Identity

• First I am a husband and father of eight children. God has called me to raise a large family according to Godly principles and to invest time and effort into each person in my family. It is my responsibility to provide for the family economically as well. So far, so good. 

• Second I am a Christian leader and lay preacher. God has called me to minister to the jail and prison community, both inmates and volunteers who serve the inmates. I minister to the church body at large through drama and am a Certified Minister of the Gospel. So far, so good.

• Third I am an engineer, vice president of engineering, and past college engineering lecturer. God has called me to advance the engineering trade as a degreed and licensed professional and to provide a strong Christian witness to potential and current science/engineering professionals. So far, so good.

• Fourth I am an athlete committed to strength training, aerobic training, physical recreation, proper nutrition, and ongoing education in the areas of better health. So far, so good.

Within all of these identities burns a strong desire to be a builder. To build a family, a ministry, to build people and to raise up people to be all they can be. As an engineer I build products, patents, people, systems, and business. As a consulting engineer I build value into other businesses. As a college teacher I build others so that they in turn can be builders. Edifying others, building, creating, producing -  this interweaves all that I do. I do not want to tear down, condemn, criticize, be negative, discourage, impede progress, gossip, find fault, or otherwise diminish the potential that God has given every person.
